Doron Birger is President & CEO of Elron Electronic Industries, Ltd. (Israel). He joined Elron in September 1994 as Vice President of Finance and, in September 2001, was also appointed as President. Mr. Birger serves as a Director in several companies in the Elron group such as Elbit Systems Ltd, Elron Software, Elron TeleSoft, Rafael Development Corporation (RDC),Galil Medical, Given Imaging, Mediagate, Netvision, KIT and 3DV. Mr. Birger joined Elron with 15 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a variety of companies including North Hills Electronics, a high-tech company in the communications sector, Middle-East Pipes Ltd., a leading manufacturer in the metal industry, Maquette Ltd., a manufacturer and exporter of leather fashions, Bateman Engineering Ltd., I.D.C. Principal - Vantage Point Venture Partners Lee brings 15 years of broad semiconductor technology expertise to the Firm specifically in the areas of wireless, semiconductor processing, advanced materials, and analog and mixed signal technologies. Before joining VantagePoint in 2002, he founded an optical component company which was subsequently acquired by New Focus, a leading photonics solutions provider. He then joined New Focus where he served as Director of Modulator Development and led product design, marketing, and manufacturing. He holds six patents with two additional patents pending in optical networking and device manufacturing. Lee graduated with honors from the California Institute of Technology (BS, MS) and is also a candidate for a PhD in Applied Physics George Lauro George Lauro is the Managing Director for Wasserstein Venture Capital's Palo Alto (CA) office. He joined Wasserstein Ventures from IBM, where he served as Director of Rapid Commercialization at Corporate Headquarters and was one of IBM's senior technology strategists. Mr. Lauro developed strategies for dozens of IBM startups ranging from Radio Frequency IC's (RFICs) to Internet Applications and Pervasive Computing. He was a central architect of IBM's Silicon Germanium (SiGe) wireless IC strategy and was Director of Business Development of the IBM's SiGe Wireless Products Business. Mr. Lauro held operating roles at Motorola, IBM and GE. He is now on the board of directors of SandCraft (MIPS-based control plane processors), Cognigine (OC768 network packet processors), Qusion (Indium Phosphide integrated photonic modules), Peregrine (silicon on sapphire mixed signal chips), Blaze Networks (photonics and optical transceivers), Triscend (configurable embedded processors), and Mockingbird (IP telephony platforms). Mr. Lauro completed a B.S.E.E. from Brown, an M.B.A. from Wharton and graduate work in Astronautics at MIT. Dominic McCarthy Mr. McCarthy has 21 years of experience in industrial research, product implementation, and strategic analysis with a particular focus on integrated circuits, processors, and embedded systems. Mr. McCarthy joined VantagePoint from VantagePoint portfolio company SandCraft, where he was Vice President, Architecture. Earlier in his career, Mr. McCarthy spent 15 years with Hewlett-Packard – first in the R&D department of the Computer Peripherals Division, then as a lead researcher in HP Laboratories where he was an integral contributor to a new research program focused on computer architecture for embedded systems and appliances. As a respected technological innovator, he has been granted 18 patents in the area of embedded system computer architecture. Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of the University of Bristol (MS in Information Engineering) and was later elected Visiting Fellow to the Faculty of Engineering. He is also a graduate of the University of Birmingham, UK (BS in Electronics & Computer Engineering). Amnon Fisher Amnon Fisher was named President & CEO of ChipX in December 2003. He has more than 25 years of engineering and executive management experience. Prior to joining ChipX, Mr. Fisher served as president and CEO of Genesis Microchip, where he was instrumental in leading the company to a dominant position in the LCD flat panel market, increasing market share from 28 percent and $50 million in annual revenue (in year 2000) to 70 percent and more than $200 million in revenue (in year 2003). Prior to his work at Genesis, Mr. Fisher also served in executive-level roles at NeoMagic and LSI Logic, and held senior level management positions in engineering for Fujitsu MicroElectronics and Digital Equipment Corporation, beginning his career at National Semiconductor in 1978. Mr. Fisher holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and a B.S.E.E. from Israel Institute of Technology. |
