ChipX Announces Technical Advisory Board of Prestigious Industry Veterans

Santa Clara, CA – June 11, 2007 –  ChipX, leading the way with a broad range of next generation ASIC solutions, today announced it has established a Technical Advisory Board (TAB).  The board members are a prestigious group of industry veterans, who will enhance the ChipX leadership team and the company’s expertise in the ASIC technology and target applications.

The Technical Advisory Board consists of four members:  Yair Be’ery, Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University, Israel, Hung Nguyen, Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless Products Division at Sigma Designs, Inc., Dr. Sass Somekh from Novellus Systems and Anders Frisk, Executive Vice President at Genesis Microchip Inc.

"The advisory board brings a wealth of knowledge to ChipX and will provide needed expertise in various technology and market areas of interest to the company."

About Professor Yair Be’ery

Yair Be’ery is a professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University, Israel.  Prof. Be’ery has been with the University since 1985, having served as the Chairman from 1999-2003.  He has published over 100 journal and conference articles, mainly in the fields of communications, coding and computer architectures. In parallel to his academic career, he co-founded STI Ventures, a high technology investment company, and served as Vice President of Advanced Technology of the DSP Group Inc.. Prof. Be'ery is now on the Boards of Directors of Elron Electronic Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ: ELRN) and Teledata Networks Ltd. 

About Hung Nguyen

Hung Nguyen, Vice President and General Manager, Wireless Products Division at Sigma Designs, Inc. is a seasoned executive and technologist.  Mr. Hung Nguyen has over 21 years of experience in semiconductor design for wireless systems, optical drives and hard disk drives. Mr. Nguyen joined Sigma through the acquisition of Blue7 Communications. He was the Founder and CEO of Blue7. Prior to founding Blue7, Mr. Nguyen worked at NeoMagic as the Director of Engineering. He also held several management and engineering positions at Chameleon Systems, Quantum Corporation and IBM. Mr. Hung Nguyen received a BSEE with distinction from University of Southern California and a MSEE from Santa Clara University. He holds 22  patents. He was named Inventor of the Year at Quantum in 1995. 

About Dr. Sass Somekh

Dr. Sass Somekh  is the retired President, and current Chair of the Technical Advisory Board of Novellus Systems, responsible for leading the development and driving the business growth of several key products in the Semiconductor-equipment industry.  Prior to joining Novellus, he was an Executive VP and a board member at Applied Materials.  In 1993 Mr. Somekh was recognized as a co-inventor of the Precision 5000 when it became the first semiconductor-manufacturing system to be placed in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution. In 1994 Sass received the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute’s SEMI Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his many contributions to the industry. In 2006 Sass was inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame for his professional achievements and contribution to the Silicon Valley community. Sass received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Caltech. He holds more than 50 U.S. patents. Mr. Somekh has been a director of Synopsys since 1999, and is also on the boards of Nanosys, SoloPower and Sol-Gel Technologies.

About Anders Frisk

Anders Frisk is the Executive Vice President of Genesis Microchip Inc.  Mr. Frisk joined Genesis in March 2000. Mr. Frisk has been heading Genesis’s strategic technology development including the DisplayPort streaming media interconnect standard, which is gaining traction in the PC industry and positioned for adoption by consumer electronics manufacturers as well.  Prior to Genesis, Mr. Frisk was with Nokia as Director of Technology Planning, where he was responsible for strategic technology planning for display products. He has also held management positions at Fujitsu ICL Computers (PC Architecture Manager), Nokia (Systems Planning Manager) and Ericsson Information Systems (Product Marketing Manager). He has served on the board of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) and chaired VESA‘s Monitor Committee for four years. Mr. Frisk holds a Master‘s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stockholm‘s Royal Institute of Technology.
